The Story

Biomaterial for filling and rebuilding of root canals

COMPOSITION:
BIO MTA+ powder: Oxides: calcium, silicon, iron, aluminium, sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium phosphate, hydroxyapatite (representing approx. 3/4 of the total) and bismuth and zirconium oxide
BIO MTA+ liquid: Ph. Eur. purified water, calcium catalyst.

INTENDED USE
The product is intended for dental treatment as a material for filling and remineralisation of root canals.
BIO MTA+ is particularly indicated for:
– perforations of root canal walls
– intracanal resorptions
– root tip backfilling,
– direct pulp capping,
– during pulp amputation surgery,
– treatment of teeth with incomplete root development.
The high content of calcium ions remineralises the tooth tissue. Calcium-silicon compounds support tissue reconstruction following wall perforation and intracanal resorption.
BIO MTA+ contains hydroxyapatite, a natural component of bones, which integrates the compound perfectly into the bone structure.
BIO MTA+ is not suitable as a standalone permanent root canal filling.
Once its two components have been mixed, BIO MTA+ exhibits extremely plastic and cohesive consistence without brittling and stays on the instruments. This facilitates the application BIO MTA+ when compared with the traditional MTA compounds.
Radiopaque.
BIO MTA+ meets the requirements of EN ISO 6876.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not use in inflammatory conditions. Acidic pH values disrupt the setting of BIO MTA+. The BIO MTA+ cannot be used as a full root canal filling, as its potential removal will be difficult.
Do not mix the BIO MTA+ powder with water or other fluids. Use the BIO MTA+ liquid only.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
Causes serious eye damage. Irritating to the mucous membranes of the oral cavity and skin.
May cause respiratory irritation. Exposure to moisture, including blood, reduces the curing time. Complete filling of the root canal may reduce the resistance of the root to fracture.
Discolouration might occur. Endodontic treatment may involve temporary pain, swelling and postoperative tenderness.
The use of permanent dental fillings can be associated with bacterial microleakage. BIO MTA+ has cytotoxic potential. Use a cofferdam, disposable gloves, safety goggles/visors and protective clothing when handling the product. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water. If swallowed, rinse the mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting. Avoid creating and inhaling dust. In case of worrying symptoms, consult a doctor. Keep out of the reach of children.
Any serious incident involving the product should be reported to the manufacturer and the competent authority of the State in which the user or patient is domiciled.

How to Use:

Cut off the BIO MTA+ liquid pipette tip. Move the entire contents of the BIO MTA+ powder glass vial with 1 to 2 drops of the BIO MTA+ liquid on a mixing plate.
Mix using a spatula for approximately 30 seconds until the consistency of soft modelling clay. If the compound mix is too thick or too brittle, add one more drop of the BIO MTA+ liquid.
Contact with moisture, including blood, accelerates setting. Place the compound at the target site with an applicator. One container of the BIO MTA+ powder contains a one-off dose. Once mixed with the BIO MTA+ liquid, consume the mixed dose within a maximum of 4 minutes. The compound cures and hardens afterwards.
Working time (initial setting time): 4 minutes
Setting time (curing): approx. 180 min.
